GUWAHATI: In a major anti-drug operation, Assam Police recently seized 8.2 kg of morphine valued at around ₹13 crore from a concealed chamber inside a vehicle's fuel tank at Badarpur Ghat.

The operation was jointly conducted by Cachar Police, Sribhumi Police and the Directorate General of Assam Rifles (DGAR).
The seizure was announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on X.
One person was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
Sarma said the morphine was recovered from a secret fuel-tank chamber during the coordinated operation.
The seizure is being seen as a significant success in the state's ongoing efforts to curb the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.
