Madhya Pradesh is a living example of how online gambling addiction and lure of luxury lifestyle can drown people. A woman cashier has been arrested for embezzling lakhs of rupees from the bank.
Even the investigating police officers were surprised by the incident of the woman. It is reported that he spent around Rs 35 lakh on the Star Maker app alone.
The incident took place in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. Cashier was working in the main branch of District Cooperative Bank. He is accused of embezzling Rs 42 lakh from the bank.
The bank authorities approached the police and the Kotwali police immediately started an investigation into the embezzlement of government funds.
After the arrest of the accused female cashier, the investigators have come up with explosive information one after another. Police said the bank employee spent a lot of money on everything from booking flight tickets online to various luxury trips.
It has invested heavily in an online gaming and entertainment app called Star Maker. He lost around Rs 3.5 lakh in app gambling and other virtual games.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was the head cashier of the bank and easily transferred huge amount of money to his personal account. The fraud first came to light when a large number of discrepancies were detected during a bank audit.
Police are now investigating how the accused woman’s lavish lifestyle and online gambling addiction drained bank depositors of their money. Kotyali Police registered a case of fraud and financial misappropriation against the arrested cashier and further legal action is being taken.
