GUWAHATI: A burst water pipeline belonging to the Guwahati Jal Board has been causing significant waterlogging on Principal JB Road, near Guwahati Club, for nearly a week, with water spilling onto the road and seeping into an adjacent vacant property.
Residents and commuters have been facing considerable difficulties due to the unresolved leakage. A local shopkeeper expressed frustration, stating that the problem has persisted for close to a week with no repair work in sight. "People are facing difficulties, especially pedestrians," he said.
This is not the first time the area has witnessed such a situation. A local resident pointed out that a similar pipeline leakage had occurred approximately two to three months ago at the same stretch. "People from the Jal Board came and fixed it. But the problem reoccured," the resident said.
The situation has become a particular concern for families with school-going children. A local woman in the area said her children are forced to walk through the accumulated water every time they leave for school or return home. "It is a daily struggle," she added.
The standing water on the road has raised concerns about road safety and hygiene. Residents are now urging the authorities to take immediate and long-term corrective action to fix the leakage and prevent its recurrence.
In response to this query, authorities from the Guwahati Jal Board stated that they are aware about the situation and pledged to fix the ongoing leakage at the earliest opportunity.
