GUWAHATI: India's white-ball trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah is back together in the ODI setup, ending a wait of 968 days since the three last featured in the format as a unit. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the reunion on June 21, naming a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match series against England.

The series, which gets underway on July 14, will see India travel to Edgbaston, Sophia Gardens, and Lord's for three matches against the hosts. Shubman Gill has been handed the captaincy for the tour, with Shreyas Iyer as his deputy, reflecting the selectors' broader push to blend experienced campaigners with India's next generation of white-ball leaders.
Kohli's return comes after a difficult few months. The senior batter picked up a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final, which ruled him out of India's recent ODI series against Afghanistan. His participation against England was initially left contingent on a fitness test scheduled for June 22, though the BCCI included him in the squad in anticipation of a positive outcome.
Bumrah, meanwhile, makes his first appearance in the 50-over format since being rested for the Afghanistan series as part of ongoing workload management. The pace spearhead is expected to lead India's bowling attack in English conditions, with support from Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana. Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar round out the spin options.
Rohit Sharma continues in the squad as one of its most experienced hands, having remained a fixture of India's ODI top order even as the format's scheduling has grown increasingly congested.
The headline return of the trio has come at the expense of Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young left-hander who impressed with a century in the final ODI against Afghanistan while deputising for Kohli. With Kohli back in the fold, Jaiswal has missed out on selection for the England series.
