Bhumi Adhikar Joint Struggle Committee (BJSC) has strongly condemned the arrest of Pranab Dale and demanded his immediate release.

Bhumi Adhikar Joint Struggle Committee (BJSC) Bhumi Adhikar Joint Struggle Committee and Greater Kaziranga Land and Human Rights Preservation Committee convener and active leader of land movement Pranab Dale has strongly condemned the wrongful arrest. The committee feels that the arrest reflects a completely undemocratic and autocratic character. In a press release, Joint Struggle Committee (JSC) advisor Shantanu Barthakur and convenors Govinda Rava, Krishna Gogoi and Subrata Talukder said that the Assam Police targeted Pranab Dele on government orders for leading the movement to protect the land of the poor. The committee also alleged that the Chief Minister of the state is now pandering to the common man in an attempt to appease the big corporate groups.

Committee officials said that just a few days ago, Adit Chandra Rava, advisor to the Bardua Bagan Land Land Claims Committee and one of the most active leaders of Assam’s land movement, who had been struggling to protect the land of tribal tribal workers, was arrested. Pranab Dale was arrested again today in the same conspiracy. His only crime was that he fought to protect the land of 45 tribal families in Kaziranga and stood against the interests of big corporate groups. The committee is angry that big companies are now ruling Assam and it is fully sponsored by the Assam government. So it is necessary to take measures to prevent the destruction of the Assamese nation.

The statement said that leaders like Pranab Dale are bravely leading from the front in this important fight to protect the people of Assam and that is why the government has taken such aggressive action against him. The Land Rights Joint Struggle Committee strongly condemned the government’s repressive actions and demanded the unconditional release of Pranab Del as soon as possible. The committee warned the Assam government to immediately stop such injustice, suppression and persecution of the people’s movement to protect the fundamental rights and democratic protest voice.
