The Coxroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday threatened to launch another nationwide agitation against the central government for violating the recent agreement. The party alleged that despite an understanding with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, the police was going to take action against the protesters. The CJP issued the warning at a joint press conference in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibel. The CJP suspended its 49-day protest on July 25 following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra PradhanBut recent developments have created renewed tension between the two sides.
The party alleged that all old FIRs registered against the protesters have been withdrawn and no new cases have been filed as per the July 25 agreement.‘B was assured. But the government did not keep this promise. Instead, the CJP claimed that arrests and surveillance of students and harassment of volunteers continued. If the government does not hand over the written copy of the agreement by tomorrow, the party will be forced to start the agitation again. It also reminded the government to consider their five-point demand for maximum compensation to the families of the suicides and reforms in the examination system.
CJP spokesperson Abhishek Ranka took to social media to express outrage that the government had completely broken its promise of no punitive action against the protesters. He alleged that hundreds of students were arrested in Bihar and West Bengal and that protesters were being harassed by the police in several states, including Delhi. AlsoVolunteers helping the protesters were also arrested in Delhi, he said. Another member of the party, Ratna Singh, claimed that seven or eight FIRs had been registered in Assam and a total of 11 people, including 10 members of the Muslim community, had been arrested and charged with attempted murder in Kolkata. He also said that twenty people have been arrested in Bihar.

Meanwhile, senior advocate Kapil Sibel announced a donation of Rs 1 crore to provide legal aid to the protesters and urged lawyers across the country to stand by the students. He also alleged that the Delhi Police was trying to communalise the whole issue by using facial recognition technology to identify the protesters. The next 24 hours will determine whether the agreement will remain in force or whether there will be another major clash across the country.
