He was a physiotherapist by profession. Her name is Surbhi. The victim’s boyfriend, Sanjit Ali, was found unconscious in the same room and admitted to the hospital. Police are investigating the incident.
According to police sources, Surbhi, a resident of Bengaluru, and Sanjith Ali, a resident of Kerala, had a long-standing relationship. Surbhi tells her family that she wants to marry Sanjit. However, the family objected to this, police said.
According to the investigators, both left the house after the objection of the family. Surveer’s family then made a missing persons diary. Later, Surbhi returns and says that she is an adult and has the right to choose her life partner. Then started living with Sanjit.
Police sources also claimed that a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against Surbhi and Sanjith in connection with the seizure of drugs at a party. Investigation revealed that Surveer’s family later withdrew her from the relationship and admitted her to a rehabilitation center in Mysore. There, he underwent treatment for alcohol and drug addiction for about six months before moving to Bangalore with his mother.
Surveer’s family alleged that Sanjit Ali got her addicted to drugs during the relationship. The family also alleged that Sanjeet had physically assaulted Surbhi several times and that she had bruises on her body. However, the police are yet to independently verify the allegations.
Surbhi’s body was recovered from the house on Monday and sent for post-mortem. Sanjit Ali, who was found unconscious, is undergoing treatment at the hospital. He will be questioned once his condition is stable, police said.
Police said they are examining the autopsy report, forensic test results and other evidence to determine the exact cause of death. Further legal action will be taken after looking into all aspects.
