GUWAHATI: Two people were killed after two heavy-duty trucks collided in the Hawajan Borkathoni area of Dhalpur in Lakhimpur district late Saturday night, police officials told GPlus.
Both the deceased were residents of Assam. The accident took place around midnight on NH-15 when a speeding truck rammed another heavy-duty truck from behind, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
“One person from each vehicle lost their lives,” a police official said.
Firefighters reached the accident site and doused the flames. Both trucks were completely damaged in the fire.
“One of the trucks involved in the accident was parked on the roadside while its crew was repairing a tyre when the other truck rammed into it from behind,” a local person said.
