GUWAHATI: Photographer Anutosh Deb’s two-volume work, ‘Photography: An Obsession Personified,’ was released at the Asu Dev Art Gallery in Ulubari, Guwahati, on Sunday, August 2.

The event was jointly organised by literary-cultural magazine “Eka Ebong Koekjan’ and the Asu Dev Foundation. It also featured discussions on Assam’s modern art movement and the evolution of photography in the state.
Among those present were sculptor Biren Singha, senior journalist and author Hemanta Barman, photographer and Image Hut director Subhamoy Bhattacharjee, and senior journalist and author Udayan Biswas.
Speaking at the event, Biswas reflected on Deb’s artistic journey and his association with photography. He said that Deb, the son of noted artist Asu Dev, chose the camera over the paintbrush as his medium of artistic expression.
The two volumes document Deb’s four-decade journey in photography, featuring images that capture people, emotions, and everyday life through his lens.
“It contains photographs from the 1980s to the present, documenting my four-decade journey in photography. Some were shot on film cameras and are in black and white. In today’s digital age, I hope the work helps young photographers understand the craft and appreciate what makes a good photograph,” Anutosh Deb said.
The event concluded with Deb thanking the guests and attendees at the gallery, which houses the works of renowned artist Asu Dev.
