GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, July 11, addressed the media at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Tirtha in Jalukbari, where he unveiled a roadmap to redevelop the cultural landmark dedicated to the late singer and cultural icon, popularly known as Sudhakantha.

According to the plan, the memorial site will undergo an upgrade aimed at reflecting Dr. Hazarika's life and legacy more comprehensively. The redevelopment will include AR and VR-based interactive features intended to give visitors a more immersive experience of his work and contributions.
The roadmap also outlines digital initiatives aimed at introducing Dr. Hazarika's creations to younger audiences. An open-air cultural stage is planned to be developed within the premises for hosting performances and events.
Additionally, the government will constitute a committee to oversee cultural programmes and heritage-related activities at the site throughout the year.
Officials said further details regarding timelines and implementation of the project are expected to be announced in due course.
