The start of the match, however, was in favor of the United States. The United States took the lead with Ashton Trusty’s goal just three minutes into the game. But then Türkiye came back in the match. After 10 minutes, young Turk Arda Guler equalized.
In the 31st minute, Alper Yilmaz scored a goal for Türkiye. However, the United States returned to the match in the second half. Sebastian Berhalt equalized in the 49th minute.
Still, both teams have chances. But no goal was scored. Just when everyone assumed the match would be a draw, a dramatic twist came. Kayan Ayhan scored in the last minute to give Turkey an unforgettable victory.
But after this victory, Turkey has to return home empty-handed. After all, they have already been knocked out of the World Cup after losing their first two matches.
The United States advanced to the knockout stage as group champions with six points. This time their opponents in the knockout phase are Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Turkey’s star footballer Arda Guler opened his account on the World Cup stage by scoring in that match. The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid at the World Cup, but as the team failed to reach the knockout stages, his World Cup campaign ended there. Türkiye lost to Australia and Paraguay in the group stage.
