GUWAHATI: A 37-year-old woman died after jumping from the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu towards the Lachit Ghat side over the Brahmaputra river on Tuesday, June 23.
The deceased has been identified as Pranati Haloi, a resident of Nalbari district.
Speaking to GPlus on Wednesday, June 24, a police official from Bharalumukh Police Station said, “She was brought to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.”
The circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway.
The Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, which connects Guwahati with North Guwahati, was inaugurated on February 14.
