The next stage, the Houselisting and Housing Census, commenced across Assam on Monday and will continue until September 15. As part of this phase, trained enumerators will visit households to collect the required information.

Pegu said the census would adhere to the principle of “No Omission, No Duplication” to ensure that every household is covered accurately without repetition. He also assured that the information provided by residents would remain confidential.

According to Pegu, census information is legally protected and cannot be used as evidence in a court of law under the Census Act, 1948.

The Directorate of Census Operations has urged people to cooperate with visiting enumerators and provide the necessary details to ensure complete and accurate census coverage across the state.
