GUWAHATI: The Central government has reportedly reached out to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) for talks amid its ongoing protest in New Delhi. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das announced on Monday, July 20, that he and party member Ashutosh Ranka are on their way to meet Union Minister J.P. Nadda after receiving an invitation for discussions from the government.
Sharing the update on X, Das said the party's demands remain unchanged and expressed confidence that the movement would succeed, adding that a large number of youth had joined the protest.
The announcement comes as thousands of CJP supporters continued their march towards Parliament. Protesters allegedly attempted to cross multiple police barricades in the Parliament Street area, resulting in tense moments between demonstrators and security personnel.
Police have deployed both uniformed and plainclothes officers to maintain law and order and prevent protesters from entering the high-security zone around Parliament. While some media reports claimed that police resorted to a baton charge, New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma denied the allegations, stating that no Delhi Police personnel had used force against the protesters.
