The United States is off to a good start by playing the World Cup at home. A great win indeed and a very one sided match. The United States defeated Paraguay 1-0 in the fourth match of the World Cup at the Los Angeles Stadium on Saturday morning. USA won that match 4-1.
The United States maintained pressure from the start in this match. In a packed stadium, the USA stormed early in the game. They were also ahead in possession of the ball. The first goal came in the 7th minute.
It was an own goal though. Damian Bobadilla’s one-sided goal gave the USA the lead. After obtaining that goal, the United States became more aggressive to win. But Paraguay also tried to counterattack. However, the goal door was not opened. Instead, the U.S. made plays from the middle of the field and launched multiple attacks.
On the other hand, the defense was also quite strong. USA took the lead in the 31st minute through Folanin Balogun. But it didn’t end there, scoring another goal in extra time of the first half. It was also a shot and goal by Folanin Balogun. The USA was leading 3-0 at the time. Folanin was the hero of the double goal in this match. However, there were no more goals after that.
The first half ended 3-0. The USA controlled the match in the second half. But there were also glimpses of a counter-attack among the Paraguayan footballers. They got a goal from that enthusiasm. In the 73rd minute, Morcio’s powerful shot reduced the gap a bit.
In the end, there were many changes in both the teams. Just before the allotted time expired, an American long-range shot flew over the barpost. The referee gave seven minutes extra time in the match. And then comes another goal. In the second half, Giovanni Reiner Dunpare’s corner shot beat the Paraguayan goalkeeper and went straight into the net. USA scored again. The referee then blows the final whistle.
The United States started their World Cup campaign with a 4-1 win over Paraguay in the end. The United States won with about 53 percent possession. However, Paraguayan footballers received a total of five yellow cards in the match.
