Addressing the people of the state on the 80th Independence Day, he said he doesn’t box the young generation through these labels.
“For me, they are our sons and daughters. They are our future and in Assam we are creating an exclusive department for their welfare,” the CM said.
He urged the youth to get inspired by Indian culture and civilisation and not western ideas.
“For our new generation, we have a responsibility to work for them and use the state’s resources,” he added.
“For me, those studying in school, college, or university are not Gen Z or Gen Alpha. For me, they are my sons and daughters.”
He announced the creation of a dedicated Department of Youth Empowerment and Development to unlock global opportunities for Assam's youth.
The proposed Department will bring together NCC, NSS, Nehru Yuva Kendra, skill development, financial assistance and global standard skilling opportunities for the state’s youth, he added.
