Guwahati Police Arrest Man in Basistha Kali Mandir Theft Case, ₹1.63 Lakh Recovered


 

GUWAHATI: A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft at Sarbajanin Kali Mandir in the Natun Bazar area of Guwahati, nearly three weeks after the incident.

The accused, identified as Jamson Kro, was arrested from Baithalangso. Police recovered ₹1,63,660 in cash from his possession, which was allegedly proceeds from the sale of stolen items.

According to Guwahati Police, the recovered amount came from the sale of stolen valuables, including gold and silver ornaments, a hard disk and other items.

Legal action has been initiated against the accused, while further investigation into the case is underway.

The theft took place on July 24, when unidentified individuals allegedly broke into the Kali Mandir and stole gold jewellery. The stolen jewellery was reportedly valued at around ₹7 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
