Police said the operation was led by Basistha Police Station officer-in-charge Kapil Pathak.
During the operation, police seized 111 grams of heroin along with 100 empty drug containers. Authorities stated that while four accused were formally arrested for alleged drug trafficking, the remaining 11 youths were sent to a de-addiction and rehabilitation centre.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas Ali, Riyan Deori, Manik Rajbanshi and Mukut Mandal. Police said many young people coming to Guwahati for education and employment are increasingly falling into the grip of drug addiction, raising serious concern among authorities.
Basistha Police had earlier also conducted similar anti-drug drives in the area, leading to the arrest of several peddlers and rehabilitation of drug-addicted youths.
