GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced plans to introduce vertical gardens across 20 major flyovers and corridors in Guwahati as part of efforts to strengthen the city’s green infrastructure and further elevate its Ease of Living index.
Under the initiative, nearly 8,000 square metres of concrete structures across key urban corridors will be transformed into vertical green spaces aimed at creating a more sustainable and environmentally friendly urban landscape.
The project is part of the next phase of Guwahati’s urban modernisation drive, with a focus on integrating greenery into existing civic and transport infrastructure.
The vertical gardens are expected to contribute towards reducing urban heat, improving air quality and promoting environmentally sustainable urban planning as Guwahati continues to expand as one of the Northeast’s fastest-growing cities.
