Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha on World Environment Day“They have shared several beautiful pictures of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on social media. Rumors have been rife for months that around 4.8 to 1 million trees will be cut down in Andaman for the Great Nicobar project. Environmentalists have also expressed deep concern. Rahul Gandhi, without naming the central government, urged everyone to protect the environment.

G“If we focus on ecological balance and sustainable development, Andaman and Nicobar Islands have the potential to become the most beautiful coastal tourism destination in the world. He hopes that more Indians will visit these beautiful islands and experience the amazing beauty of India with their own eyes.

Note that Four projects will be implemented under the Great Nicobar Project. These include the construction of an international airport, a container transshipment terminal off the coast of Galatia, a solar power project and two coastal towns. A large amount of trees have to be cut to implement these projects. Biologists fear that it could destroy entire ecosystems in the area.

But Rahul Gandhi did not say anything directly about the project this time, but he spoke in favor of protecting the balance of the environment. This is considered a clear indication of controversy. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi protested on social media. He said that although the government calls it a project, in reality millions of trees are in poor condition waiting to be axed. He warned that the consequences of destroying these ancient natural resources preserved by local people for centuries could be dire.
