According to reports, the landslide engulfed several vehicles parked near the project site as well as others passing through the area after a large stretch of the road was covered with mud, rocks and debris.
Rescue and restoration operations are underway, with personnel and heavy machinery deployed to clear the debris, retrieve buried and stranded vehicles, and restore road connectivity. Authorities are also assessing whether the landslide caused any damage to construction equipment or infrastructure at the hydropower project.

In a separate rain-related incident, the Kishtwar–Doda Highway was blocked after a flash flood and mudslide struck Prem Nagar, disrupting vehicular movement. Road clearance work is in progress.
