Assembly elections will be held in Punjab next year. Congress is keen to regain power in Punjab. Congress announced its election committee on Wednesday. More than forty leaders have been kept in the committee. There was no change in the posts of State President and Leader of Opposition.
Instead, new names have been added to the committee. There are several senior MPs and MLAs from Punjab. But senior team leader Manish Tiwari was not kept in the main team. As soon as the matter came to light, he expressed his anger on social media.
“Congress has given me a lot in the last 45 years,” the Chandigarh MP and former Union minister wrote in a dejected tone on his X-handle on Thursday. I have also dedicated my life to the team. But who can escape fate… Q Chera Chera (Anyway)!’
Although he is vocal on social media, Tiwari refused to comment further on the matter to the media. He’s just saying, ‘What I meant is in my post.’
However, another senior Punjab leader, who did not want to be named, said Manish Tiwari was not expecting a top organizational post. Although before Chandigarh he was MP from Ludhiana and Anandpur Saheb. He has also served as Union Minister in the past. He has performed many duties of the party in Punjab. However, he was not consulted at any stage of the negotiation process prior to the formation of the committee.
Manish also wrote, ‘Being talented is a big mistake… If only I knew the plight of insecure people or institutions!’ Who is the ‘safe person’? Although Manish himself did not publicly name anyone, Congress sources said that the organizational restructuring process in Punjab is entirely under the supervision of Rahul Gandhi.
Is there any great defect in him who has any skill?
If only I had an antidote (fox horns) for insecurity in individuals and institutions!
Saying this @INCIndia The last 45 years have given me enough and I have dedicated my entire adult life to…

Tiwari was one of the 23 disgruntled Congress leaders (known as the G-23) who wrote a letter to the then President Sonia Gandhi in August 2020 demanding organizational reforms. But not only him, there are many other leaders who are unhappy in the Punjab Committee. Many, including Charanjit Singh Channi, are not happy with Amarinder Singh Raja Waring being appointed as the state president.
