New Integrated DC Office Inaugurated in Guwahati’s Rupnagar


 

GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam on Wednesday, August 19, inaugurated the new Integrated District Commissioner's (DC) Office for Kamrup Metropolitan District at Rupnagar, Guwahati. The ceremony was held at 10 AM, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief guest.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Sarma expressed his gratification in inaugurating the project that he placed the foundation stone for, four years ago in November 2022.

Atul Bora, Minister of P&RD and Guardian Minister for Kamrup Metropolitan District, attended along with several local representatives, including MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi (Guwahati HPC), and MLAs Pradyut Bordoloi (Dispur), Diplu Ranjan Sarma (New Guwahati), and Vijay Gupta (Guwahati Central).

The project, built at a total cost of ₹81 crore, spans a floor area of 12,695 sq m and offers parking for 153 four-wheelers and 86 two-wheelers. The building also features a solar power capacity of 350 KLW as part of its sustainability push.

The new facility consolidates multiple administrative departments under one roof. The ground floor houses the Information Desk, Public Facilitation Centre, Census Branch, Aadhaar Branch, ITDP Branch, and a canteen.

The first floor accommodates the Excise Office, Personnel Branch, Guwahati Revenue Circle Office, Treasury Branch and Treasury Account, Food & Civil Supply Branch, Nazarat Branch, Sub-Registrar, and the NPS/Pension Section.

The second floor contains the chambers of the DC, ADCs and Assistant Commissioners, along with the RKG Branch, Election Office, Development Branch, a 130-capacity conference hall, the Administrative Branch, ASRLM, and the DIPRO Office.

The third floor holds the NIC, Zila Parishad, Excise Office, Revenue Branch, Bakijai Branch, and the Record Room.

Officials say the integrated setup is expected to streamline public service delivery and improve administrative coordination across departments in the district.
