Not only NEET marks but also Class XII results will be checked in medical entrance exam! Center on the verge of changing the rules?

NEET has been the subject of national politics for the past two months. The exam was canceled due to question paper leak. Several students committed suicide out of that frustration. People including political parties have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In this situation, a big decision can be made about NEET. Basically, it can take new steps to stop the dominance of coaching centers and ensure proper evaluation of students.

The Education Ministry has constituted a nine-member committee to discuss NEET. The committee was formed last year to look into the examination system like NEET or Joint Entrance.

Recently, students have become completely dependent on personal training to clear such exams. The coaching center is running like a school. Question papers are also being leaked from these coaching centers in the hope of success. The central committee is considering these issues.

The committee is likely to submit its report in the next few weeks, sources said. It will be proposed that 50 per cent marks obtained in the board exams will be considered for determining the final result of competitive exams like NEET.

NEET is going to be online from next year The committee will recommend the final list on the basis of 50 percent marks obtained in Computer Based Examination and 50 percent marks obtained in Class XII School Examination.

Incidentally, after the cancellation of NEET, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay said the exam should be cancelled. Till 2017, medical admissions in Tamil Nadu were based on Class XII marks. Then the Center made NEET mandatory in the states. In protest, Tamil Nadu unanimously passed the bill. But the President did not agree. But this time the central committee can fulfill half of the victory demand. Will that advice be implemented?
