On paper, Trinamool Congress currently has 78 MLAs. However, 10 MLAs did not join the strike organized by party chief Mamata Banerjee on Y channel. Only 6 MLAs and 5 MPs were seen at the venue. Mamata Banerjee took to the streets to show her strength on Tuesday. However, the organizational weakness of the Trinamool was also revealed in the post-election program.
But despite the party’s woes, Mamata Banerjee is confident. He said that as long as he lives, he will continue to fight to remove BJP from Bengal. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Subvendu Adhikari lashed out at the Trinamool Congress from Tarkeswar. He said, the organizational condition of the party is very bad now.
Despite the election defeat, Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly claimed that she was not defeated but was defeated by a conspiracy. He also challenged them to come back stronger. He expressed this confidence by trusting the party leaders and workers. But within a few days of the election, the organization of the party collapsed like a house of cards.
Several veteran leaders known to be close to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have already started speaking out against the party. An important meeting with the winning MLAs was called at Mamata Banerjee’s house in Kalighat on Sunday. However, the meeting had to be canceled at the last minute as more than 20 MLAs were not present.
Mamata Banerjee called for a strike on Tuesday. However, the presence of only six MLAs and five MPs at the protest site once again highlighted the Trinamool’s internal conflict.
The MLAs present in this position were Naina Banerjee, Madan Mitra, Bobby Hakim, Biman Banerjee, Ashok Dev and Shovandev Chatterjee. The MPs included Derek O’Brien, Samirul Islam, Dola Sen, Mala Roy and Kalyan Banerjee. This means 15 leaders including MPs and MLAs did not stand by Mamata.
Over the past few years, Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have been looking at increasing youth participation in the party. But along with Mamata, some old leaders were seen in Tuesday’s strike. Mamata Banerjee said that she is always by their side in their good times, but in their bad times. He also alleged that BJP is trying to break the party by intimidating Trinamool MLAs and MPs.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Subvendu Adhikari condemned Mamata Banerjee’s stance. He said that the Trinamool Congress is now in a very bad position. Abhishek Banerjee repeatedly called the MLAs but they did not get any response. He said he heard that Abhishek Banerjee is sick and has been put on saline. Subhendu questioned how he could make so many calls under such circumstances and slammed the Trinamool leadership.
