Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has moved the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking relief from the defamation case filed against him. In a case filed by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s son Kartikeya Singh, Rahul Gandhi pleaded regret for his old comments. In fact, the entire incident took place during the 2018 assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi mentioned Kartikeya Singh’s name while raising the Panama Papers leak scandal at an election rally in Jabua.which Karthikeyan alleged that he had defamed her.
Kartikeya Singh filed a case in a special court in Bhopal and the court directed Rahul Gandhi to appear in person.‘It was issued a summons. The Congress leader approached the High Court seeking dismissal of the lower court order and the entire defamation process. Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer said in the petition that his comments were not addressed to Kartikeya Singh. He also expressed grief and sorrow for this statement. A bench of High Court Justice Pramod Kumar Aggarwal is scheduled to hear the petition.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya has slammed Rahul Gandhi’s move. He wrote on social media that Rahul Gandhi should write the word forgiveness in his nameBecause he has made such irresponsible comments in public on several occasions and later apologized in court. Malviya asked why his name was mentioned if the comment was not against Karthikeya. He said such baseless allegations cannot be expected from an opposition leader of the country.
