Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has described India’s education system as a rejection system rather than a selection process. He complained that the system placed too much financial burden and pressure on students and middle-class families. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said that India’s education system puts pressure on childrenStresses them and breaks their morale.
Addressing a large gathering called Students Voices at the Kota Education Centre, Gandhi said the current education structure was very cumbersome and unfair. He said the education system in India is a money laundering machine and they want a system that allows students to dream big. The youth of the country is very sadStressed and unhappy, he added.

He said that he wants everyone to work together so that no student of this country has to face any bad situation. “This is not a political meeting,” he said in his opening remarksIt is a special meeting about students, youth struggling to build their future and the challenges they face every day.
He claims that this system gives students mainly engineeringCertain professions like medicine and the civil service tend to be selective and discourage dreaming of alternatives. He gave examples of medical and engineering entrance exams as well as other government competitive exams where lakhs of candidates compete for a very limited number of successes. He said that only about 2 million students sat for the medical entrance examBut less than 100,000 are selected and it is a very difficult situation for candidates.
He also alleged that huge amount of money is taken from the family every year in the name of education. He claimed that students and their families spend the equivalent of the government’s entire education sector financial allocation for just one exam. However, the ruling party criticized Gandhi for playing politics by playing on candidates’ emotions in the final stages of preparations for the re-conducted medical entrance exam.
