GUWAHATI: Two residential complexes in Guwahati’s Kalapahar area were targeted in separate theft incidents within two days, raising questions over security measures in residential complexes.

According to police officials from Fatasil Ambari Police Station, the first theft was reported at an apartment in Mahamaya Complex on the intervening night of July 26, while the occupants were away on a holiday trip.
The following day, a similar theft was reported at Subham Garden apartment complex, raising concerns among residents in the Lal Ganesh-Kalapahar area.
Preliminary police findings and local accounts suggest that the same gang may be behind both incidents.
CCTV footage from the residential premises reportedly shows the masked men moving through the complexes. The suspects were seen carrying utility backpacks, allegedly to store stolen items, and appeared to move systematically through the premises.
Police have confirmed both incidents and are examining CCTV footage to identify and trace the suspects.
