GUWAHATI: Police have launched a manhunt for a government school principal in Assam's Udalguri district after he and his son were booked for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a young woman.

An FIR registered at Kharupetia Police Station names Abdul Kuddus, principal of Shivpur Bhalukmari Middle English School, and his son, Rezaul Haque Choudhury, as the accused. The complaint was filed by the victim's family, who alleged that the duo abducted and sexually assaulted the young woman, a resident of Fakirpara in neighbouring Darrang district.
According to police, Abdul Kuddus has been absconding since **June 8**, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him. His son has also been named in the case, while the investigation remains ongoing.
The allegations have also impacted the functioning of the school, with the principal remaining absent during the ongoing examination period, disrupting academic and administrative activities.
Speaking to GPlus, officials at Kharupetia Police Station confirmed that the main accused has not yet been arrested. Police said the investigation is underway and further legal action will follow based on the findings of the probe.
