GUWAHATI: Indian Railways has clarified that digital unreserved tickets will be considered valid only when displayed live on the Rail One app on the passenger's registered mobile phone. Screenshots, saved images, PDF copies, and tickets shared through WhatsApp or other messaging platforms will not be accepted as valid proof of travel.
According to the Railways, ticket-checking staff will accept only the original digital ticket displayed live on the Rail One app during inspections. Any copied, downloaded or shared version, regardless of format, will be treated as invalid and may result in penalties if passengers fail to produce a valid ticket.
Speaking to GPlus, a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Public Relations Officer (PRO) said screenshots of tickets were never considered valid proof of travel. "Passengers should always carry a valid copy of ticket along with proper identity proof," the official said.
Passengers are advised to keep the app updated and ensure their ticket can be displayed live on their registered mobile phone before boarding the train.
