First opening in Mexico City event
The World Cup will officially begin at the historic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. Hosts Mexico and South Africa will face each other at 12:30 PM IST. The opening ceremony will start around 90 minutes before the start of the match at 10:30 PM.
The main objective of this program will be to highlight the culture, tradition and history of Mexico. Visitors will be exposed to the diverse cultural identity of the country through local artists, folk culture and the famous ‘Pepel Picado’ art.
World famous pop star Shakira will be one of the main attractions of the event. The singer, who caused a stir around the world with his ‘Waka Waka’ at the 2010 World Cup, will sing ‘Die Die (Let’s Go)’ as the official song of the 2026 World Cup. He will be joined on stage by Nigerian star Burna Boy.
In addition, several artists from the official World Cup album—J Balvin, Belinda, Alejandro Fernandez, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs, Los Angeles Azules, Mana and South Africa’s Tylai—will perform at the event.
Mexico is celebrating as the World Cup begins. The government of that country declared a holiday in Mexico.

Mexico followed by Canada. Hosts Canada open their World Cup campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium. The opening ceremony will begin at 11 PM IST and the matches will begin at 12:30 PM.

American in Los Angeles A grand ceremony is held
The third and final opening ceremony will be held at Los Angeles Stadium. Saturday starts at 5 am Indian time with USA taking on Paraguay at 6:30 am.
