However, it is not clear who and how the ship was attacked. It was also not confirmed whether the Indian sailors were safe after the attack. After the incident, several pictures of the ship went viral on social media, showing the ship burning in the middle of the sea.

Following the incident, the Indian Embassy in Oman issued a statement on social media X. They wrote that the attack took place on a ship near Oman’s Shinas port on Thursday morning. Earlier on Wednesday, the US military launched a missile attack on the MT Chatebelo, a Palauan-flagged merchant ship in the Gulf of Oman. The ship burst into flames after being hit by one missile after another. There were 28 sailors on boardOut of which 24 were Indians. After the attack an emergency message was sent there and 21 Indians were rescued safely. However, the remaining three Indian sailors died in this incident. Earlier last Monday, another Madagascar-flagged vessel, the MT Marivex, was attacked by the US military. There were also 24 Indian sailors, though luckily they were unharmed.
