Delhi Police said in a statement that Anil Sharma’s patience and witness saved a young man’s life.
Sharma gives the man water to drink and talks him into changing his decision to commit suicide. Sharma then took the opportunity to give the man his mobile phone and told him that there was an emergency call. As the man reached for the phone, the police officer moved quickly, grabbed him and pulled him safely down the street. According to the police, his timely action saved a precious life.
After the video went viral on the internet, people praised the police officer’s actions. As one man remarked, when humanity and duty go hand in hand, that is how human life is saved. “This officer risked his life to save a stranger,” said another.
