A terrible accident has occurred in Idaho, USA. Two US fighter jets collided during a major air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Both planes crashed immediately after the collision. However, the pilots of both the planes are said to be safe. The entire airport was shut down immediately after the accident.
The accident happened around 12:30 noon local time on Sunday. Gunfighter Sky Air Show was going on at the air base at that time. The two planes that crashed were US Navy advanced EA-18G Growler fighters. The planes reportedly crashed about two miles from the air base.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows two planes colliding in mid-air. However, immediately after the collision, four pilots of both the planes were seen with parachutes. It is reported that the four crew members of both the planes were able to land safely on time. The US Navy has confirmed that all four crew members are safe.
According to the report, the grand air show was held after eight years. Thousands of people gathered to see it. The organizers had been preparing for the event for almost two years. However, after the accident, all upcoming events on Sunday have been cancelled. US Air Force and Navy officials have ordered an investigation into the incident.
Note that Mountain Home Air Base has had many accidents in the past. This incident involving two EA-18G Growler jets brings back those old memories. Earlier in 2018, a hang glider crashed on its runway, killing the pilot. Here the Thunderbirds jet crashed but the pilot survived the incident.
