Two youths were arrested for defacing a public wall by painting social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s portrait in a prominent area of Guwahati, police said on Saturday.
The arrested youths have been identified as Nukul Milli and Gaurav Singh. They were trying to paint on another public wall when they were caught by patrolling police at night.
The two youths had earlier painted Sonam Wangchuk’s portrait on a public wall in the prominent area, police said. A case has been filed at Dispur police station in this incident.
The police also registered another case against him for allegedly trying to paint on the walls of the Vishnu Jyoti project.
The police said that the two youths will be released on Saturday afternoon after issuing a notice following the legal process.
Police are investigating the incident.
