Who is this cricketer who reached Yuvraj’s record?

Nepal started a new chapter in the history of T20 cricket by defeating China by 313 runs on Sunday. Nepal’s star batsman Kushal Vurtel hit six consecutive sixes in one over of Chinese bowler Chen Zhu. With this rare performance, he touched Indian legend Yuvraj Singh’s record and contributed to Nepal’s 221-run victory.

Kushal Bhurtel did not let any pressure on the team even though Nepal lost one wicket at the start of the match. Playing aggressive cricket from the start, he scored a devastating 129 off just 43 balls with five boundaries and 16 massive sixes. He was joined by Rohit Paudel (69 off 21 balls) and Kushal Mollah (85 off 47 balls) as Nepal posted 313 for six in the allotted overs.

Kushal Vurtel made history with the over of Chinese bowler Chen Zhu. The bowler scored 37 runs off a wide ball in the over, the second highest in an over in cricket history. Kushal Vurtel became the fifth batsman to hit six sixes in an over in T20 international cricket. Earlier, in 2007, India’s Yuvraj Singh achieved the feat for the first time against England. West Indies’ Kieran Pollard, Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airey and Gibraltar’s Manan Bashir later set the record.

Nepal defeated China by a huge margin of 221 runs in the historic match. Nepal is the only team in the history of cricket to score more than 300 runs twice in T20 format. Nepal had earlier scored 314 against Mongolia in September, only four teams in the world have crossed the 300-run mark in T20 cricket so far. These records consistently reinforce that T20 cricket is becoming a batsman-dominated game.
