Neymar got a place in the World Cup team after recovering from injury. Neymar Jr suffered another serious injury in club play after being included in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Neymar injured his right leg muscle while playing for Brazilian club Santos FC. The exact severity of his injuries is not yet known.
The Brazilians will join the World Cup special camp next week. Just before that, the fear of the injury of this star footballer of the team increased.
Brazil’s first game in the upcoming World Cup is against Morocco on June 14. Prior to this, the five-time world champions will play warm-up matches against Panama and Egypt on June 1 and 2 respectively. After their first World Cup match against Morocco, Brazil’s remaining two group matches are against Haiti (June 20) and Scotland (June 25).
After a long wait, injuries and uncertainty, Neymar finally got a place in the 2026 World Cup Brazil team. After nearly three years away from the national team, emotions ran high with this comeback. But amid the joy of returning to the World Cup team, another injury has raised new fears in the Brazil camp.
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced his 26-man squad for the World Cup. The inclusion of 34-year-old Neymar was the biggest surprise and talking point. After what was his last match for the national team, he spent time on the sidelines due to multiple injuries, particularly a serious knee problem. However, the coach said this decision is based on recent fitness and preparation.
After the announcement of the squad, Neymar also responded with emotion. Various reports claimed that he broke down and cried tears of joy upon hearing the news of his return to the World Cup. He also cited the role of family, teammates and rehabilitation team behind his comeback.
But that joy didn’t last long. Within days of being called up to the World Cup squad, Neymar suffered another injury. Rodrigo Zogaib, head of medical at Brazilian club Santos FC, said: “It’s not a major injury, but there is a swelling on the leg, which was about 2mm in the size of the calf.
Neymar is currently undergoing treatment for the injury and undergoing rehabilitation at the club’s training centre. Apart from the club’s medical team, a private fitness team is also monitoring the situation. He will be rested for the next few days and will therefore miss some club matches. However, there is no panic in the Brazilian camp at the moment.
Initial assessments suggest he may recover in 5 to 10 days. He is scheduled to join the national team camp in May with the national team’s medical staff monitoring the situation and making their own assessment if necessary.
