A 13-year-old schoolgirl was abducted from Panjabari area of Guwahati on Wednesday. The deceased Zakir Ali, a youth, has been accused of abduction and is currently absconding.
According to preliminary information, accused Zakir Ali told the student that the school principal had called him. Believing it to be true, the student leaves with him and has since disappeared.
After the disappearance, the victim’s family immediately lodged a complaint with the Satgaon police station. Based on the family’s complaint, the police immediately registered a case and launched a search for the missing student. After constant efforts and proper investigation by the police, the victim was safely rescued from Barnihat area of Meghalaya. After rescue he was brought back to Guwahati and produced before Satgaon police station for necessary legal process.
Main accused Zakir Ali is still absconding. The police are intensifying the operation to arrest him as soon as possible. Police are also investigating if there is anyone else behind the incident. This incident has created anger among the locals. There is extreme concern among the local people about the safety of children in the area and the whole incident has created a strong reaction among the people.
