West Asia has calmed down after the war, but Eurasia has had no peace for the past four years. Millions of people have been affected by attacks and counter-attacks in both Russia and Ukraine.
Russia has launched a terrible attack on the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. At least 27 people were killed and many others injured in Russian attacks across Kiev on Thursday. According to the news, this is the biggest Russian attack in Ukraine this year.
Russia launched a devastating offensive across Kyiv on Thursday night. Hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles were fired at the capital. Ukraine revealed that Russia had launched at least 74 missiles and 496 drones. Explosions were heard throughout the night in the capital.
At night, thousands of people fled to bunkers and underground metro stations. The whole city is covered in black smoke. Ukrainian authorities confirmed that 27 people were killed in the attack. Rescue work has started. Many people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. 130 buildings in the city were destroyed in the attack.
Ukrainian President Zelensky was on a foreign trip when Russia launched the attack. After receiving the news, he returned home after completing his visit to Ireland. He targeted Westerners for this attack. “If they had delivered the air defense system to Ukraine on time as promised, the damage would not have been so great,” he said.
“If our friends had provided air defense systems on time as promised, we might have saved many lives today. We are not asking for any additional help from them, but at least what was promised should be given,” he said.
Russia claimed that the attack was carried out in retaliation for the attack on Ukraine. The Russian military has targeted military bases, power plants and several airports in Ukraine, including Kiev, with missiles and drones from the air, sea and land, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Telegram. Russia said the attack was in retaliation for a recent Ukrainian drone attack on an oil refinery.
