The boyfriend has been accused of strangling a 16-year-old girl for protesting her mother’s illicit relationship. The accused not only killed, but tried to cover up the crime by putting the body in a suitcase and taking it to the forest and setting it on fire. Punjab Police arrested the killer on CCTV footage.
According to police sources, the name of the arrested youth is Gurwinder Singh (24). He was in love with Usha, the mother of the dead girl. The 16-year-old girl could not accept her mother’s relationship. He consistently opposed it. Gurvinder became angry with the teenager. The victim was arrested on May 29 after Gurvinder barged into the house and strangled her to death.
After the murder, the accused made a terrible plan to destroy the evidence. He stuffed the teenager’s body inside a large suitcase. He then tied the suitcase to the back of his motorcycle and took it to a forest in nearby Hoshiarpur district. He went there and tried to set the body on fire so that no one would recognize him. Then drama was created to cover up the whole incident. The victim’s mother Usha lodged a police complaint claiming that her daughter was missing. Surprisingly, the killer himself went to the police station with his mother. To mislead the police, they have also submitted a CCTV footage, which claims that the girl left the house on her own.
The police got suspicious after seeing the CCTV footage provided by the mother. After a thorough investigation, the police realize that the girl in the footage is not the missing teenager, but someone else. The mother’s information was misrepresented and the police’s suspicions grew. The police then started examining other CCTV footage of the area and the real truth came out. A footage shows accused Gurvinder Singh carrying a large suitcase on the back of his motorcycle. On the basis of this information, Gurvinder was questioned by the police. He confessed his crime during police questioning. Based on the confession of Gurvinder, the police recovered the half-burnt body of the girl from the forest of Hoshiarpur. The accused was arrested and taken into four-day police custody and the police are probing whether the mother has any involvement in the incident.
