There is a tradition across the country of giving things to the mouth of newborns when they come home. This year, the government is going to honor that sentiment by gifting gold rings to newborns in the state. This step of the administration has definitely caught everyone’s attention. Various political parties made various promises to come to power. Similarly, C. Joseph Vijay took several such initiatives in Tamil Nadu. One of them was the promise of giving gold rings to the newborns, now coming to power he is going to implement it.

In fact, in Tamil Nadu culture, there is a traditional custom of giving ‘thimaman sir’ or a special gift from the mother-in-law’s house on the arrival of a newborn baby. And so respecting that sentiment, the government itself is going to play the role of ‘Mother’s House’ for every newborn in the state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has launched the ‘Thimaman Thanga Mathiram Thittam’ or ‘Gold Ring Scheme’ as per his election promise. Under this, every child born in a government hospital will be given a gold ring worth 1 gram, the current market value of which is around Rs 13.6.

It is learned that Chief Minister Vijay will formally launch the scheme on September 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister CN Annadurai. However, the scheme has been implemented since June 22, the birth anniversary of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. According to sources, the state government has allocated Rs 755.83 crore annually for the new initiative.

According to sources, about 7.8 lakh babies are born every year in Tamil Nadu, of which about 53 percent are delivered in government hospitals. Meanwhile, the average cost of giving birth in a private hospital is around Rs 63,473, while it is only Rs 1,364 in a government hospital.

Therefore, the government has gifted gold in honor of motherhood. This applies not only to the first child but also to subsequent children. But it requires proof of residence in Tamil Nadu. They can also use Ration Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Labor Welfare Board ID and Post Office Address Proof.
