GUWAHATI: A nine-year-old student in Assam’s Lakhimpur district died after falling into an under-construction Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) water tank in the Narayanpur area on Monday, July 20.

The victim has been identified as Anshuman Saikia, a Class IV student.
According to officials from Narayanpur Police Station, they were informed about the incident at around 8.30 am on Monday. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.
When the nine-year-old failed to return home, his father Purnananda Saikia, along with local residents, launched a search operation. After hours of searching, the boy’s body was recovered from inside the water tank.
