GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, has re-arrested three officials of the Assam Fishery Development Corporation (AFDC) Ltd as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and corruption within the state-run corporation.

Among those arrested is former Officer on Special Duty-cum-Project Director Padma Kanta Hazarika. The two other accused are Birinchi Adikari and Jyotish Saikia, both linked to AFDC Ltd.
The arrests were made on June 10 in connection with Dispur Police Station Case No. 298/2022, which pertains to allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and misappropriation of public funds under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
According to officials, the Directorate is simultaneously investigating multiple cases involving AFDC. Hazarika had previously been arrested on May 30 in a separate case registered by the Anti-Corruption Branch under the Prevention of Corruption Act. In the same case, eight other AFDC officials were taken into custody on May 26.
Investigators stated that the latest action is linked to alleged irregularities being examined under the Dispur police case, which remains under active investigation.
The three accused were produced before a competent court on June 10, following which the court remanded them to two days of police custody for further interrogation.
