Bangladesh has returned an Indian citizen who was abducted while cutting grass on the Bangladesh border

Bangladesh authorities handed over an Indian to the Indian authorities on Tuesday night. The man was abducted from the international border on Tuesday afternoon.

The abducted person has been identified as Ranjit Das, a resident of Assam’s Cachar district. According to sources, Ranjit Das went missing while collecting grass from the border area on Tuesday morning.

Locals alleged that he was abducted by a group from the other side. Bangladesh Border Guard handed over abducted Ranjit Das to Indian authorities around 10pm on Tuesday, a police source said. The place he visited was Indian territory beyond the barbed wire, known as Zero Point. Bangladeshi citizens kidnapped him from there.

Meanwhile, nine suspected illegal migrants from Bangladesh are stranded in a remote area along the India-Bangladesh border near Assam’s South Shalmara-Mankachar district. A flag meeting was held between the border guards of the two countries to resolve the issue.
