According to reports, the coaching centre was located on the upper floor of a building in the Purnia area. As the fire spread rapidly, several students reportedly jumped from the building to escape, while local residents and emergency responders rushed to assist those trapped inside.
Preliminary information suggests the blaze may have been triggered by a short circuit in an air conditioning unit. The incident led to chaotic scenes in the area as crowds gathered and rescue efforts got underway.
Multiple fire brigade teams were deployed to the site shortly after authorities received information about the fire. Firefighters launched an intensive operation to control the blaze and evacuate those inside the building.
A fire department official said the rescue operation was being hampered by the intensity of the fire. “It is being reported that around 10 to 12 people may be trapped inside. We have not yet been able to enter the building because the fire is extremely severe,” the official said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the incident and directed senior officials to reach the spot immediately. He instructed authorities to expedite rescue and relief operations, ensure adequate medical treatment for the injured, and closely monitor the situation.
Expressing concern over the incident, the Chief Minister wished the injured a speedy recovery and directed the administration to provide all necessary assistance to those affected. Firefighting and rescue operations were continuing at the time of reporting.
