Two retired teachers of Cotton College have set an example of generosity to the society. Dr. Pannalal Goswami and his wife Dr. Nandita Bhattacharya Goswami, who live in Kalapahar, Guwahati, donated their life savings of Rs. 1 crore to Kumar Bhaskar Burma University of Sanskrit and Ancient Studies at Nalbari. Dr. Pannalal Goswami used to teach in the Chemistry Department and Dr. Nandita Bhattacharya Goswami in the Sanskrit Department at Cotton College.
The couple recommended that this huge sum be used for promoting Sanskrit education in universities and for research into the Indian tradition of knowledge. People generally save or invest their hard-earned money or invest it in different places for their happiness and future security after retirement. But donating all the money for the betterment of society and education without thinking about your own happiness is a rare example indeed.
The generosity of this former teacher couple surprised and inspired everyone. Their donation will help Kumar Bhaskar Burma University to advance academically. Their commitment to society and love for education will forever be remembered.
