They were supposed to go to the temple to worship on the new moon. The journey was a disaster. A woman killed her husband in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Two other youths assisted in the murder. On the basis of CCTV footage, mobile location and digital evidence, the police unraveled the mystery of the incident within a few hours.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh, a resident of Chulagiri in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. About two years ago he married 19-year-old Hasini from Shanthipuram. They also have a daughter. Ramesh used to work in a private company in Hosur.
The police came to know that even after marriage, Hasini was in a relationship with her childhood friend Jugandhar. The relationship later turned into love and she became bored with her husband. They then blueprinted the murder.
Hasini suddenly offered to perform pooja at Sri Malleshwar Swamy temple on Tuesday. Ramesh leaves on a motorbike with his wife and young daughter. On the street, Hasini was repeatedly sending her live location to Jugandhar from her mobile. As a result, prosecutors had no difficulty in monitoring the couple’s movements.
Investigators suspect that Hasini deliberately dropped the bag when she reached the third hairpin junction on the Mallappa Kanda Pahari road in Gudupalle division. When the motorbike stopped to take the bag, Jugandhar and his accomplices came out from behind the bushes. They chased Ramesh for about 100 meters and hacked him to death with sharp weapons. He died on the spot. The couple’s young daughter was also present at the time of the murder.
After the incident Hasini and her daughter did not return home, her mother lodged a complaint with the police station. An investigation has been initiated based on the complaint. CCTV footage from the road adjacent to the temple showed Ramesh on his way to the temple on a motorcycle. On the way back, Hasini was seen with two youths on the same motorbike.
The police then analyzed mobile phone call records, location information and other technical data to recover the body. Hasini, her boyfriend Jugandhar and two other accused have been arrested. Allegations that Hasini was a minor at the time of marriage are also being investigated. If the allegations are found to be true, a separate case can be filed under the Child Marriage Act.
