GUWAHATI: A kidnapping attempt involving a Class IV student of DAV High School, Ulubari, has sparked concern in Guwahati after a man tried to lure the child with chocolates.

Speaking to GPlus, an official of Paltan Bazar Police Station said the incident took place near the school premises when the accused allegedly approached the student and attempted to entice the child by offering chocolates. The public noticed the suspicious behaviour and intervened before any harm could occur.
The suspect, identified as Pradip Das, was nabbed by locals and subsequently handed over to the police. He is currently in the custody of law enforcement authorities.
Police officials confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is underway to ascertain the accused's background and intentions. Preliminary findings suggest that the accused may be a beggar. Officials also stated that the individual has one hand amputated.
Further probe is underway.
