Kapili River has 1000+ people


Seven gates of the Khandang Dam have been opened due to the rise in water due to heavy rains. Dima Hasao District Disaster Management Authority has issued special alert for people living in Kapili river and Bhatiani areas.

As per published guidelines, water is being released periodically through the spillway gate to keep the dam safe.

Authorities have urged locals to exercise extreme caution and refrain from wading into rivers or using river water during the evacuation. It is advised to move livestock, vehicles and other essential items away from the river banks to safer places to minimize possible damage.

Residents are also requested to keep up-to-date with how many gates have been opened and the amount of water through official mobile and WhatsApp media.

The District Disaster Management Authority also said that the flow of water towards Lanka will also depend on the functioning of the South Kapili hydroelectric project. The District Emergency Office has already launched its helpline service to deal with any kind of emergency.

The administration urged people to follow all government guidelines and take necessary precautions for their safety during heavy rains.
