A young Indian-origin man has been stabbed to death in Southall, West London. The deceased has been identified as Gurvez Singh, UK Metropolitan Police have opened a murder case and are investigating the incident.
Seven people were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident, but six were later released. One has been released on conditional bail.
According to police sources, the incident happened outside a shop near the junction of North Road and Dormers Wells Lane in Southall last Wednesday (10 June). Police and medical personnel arrived around 12:41 pm and rescued Gurvez Singh and another critically injured person. Gurvez died before being taken to the hospital. The other injured person was released from the hospital after treatment.
The Metropolitan Police said they are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV footage or other information to come forward and help with the investigation. Investigators are looking into the real motive behind the attack and the role of the accused.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said investigators were looking into the circumstances surrounding the murder. “I would urge anyone with CCTV footage of the area – or who was at the scene at the time of the incident but has not yet spoken to the police – to come forward and contact the police,” he said.
